Youtube video, not very useful but just an indication of the problem: Again, this did nothing for the fan noise.Īgain, the laptop does absolutely nothing, while that fans are still making a lot of noise. I also set some energy mode in the bios from 'performance' to 'balance'. Putting it in energy-efficient mode does nothing for the fans though. I don't do heavy work on the laptop, so it is still enough power, but I don't think this should be necessary on a laptop with this much capability. Putting the laptop in enery-efficient mode when plugged in. I wouldn't go sit in the library at my university charging the laptop because everyone will be looking annoyed at me. So the laptop is doing nothing but charging, but the fans make a lot of noise. When the laptop is off the charger, it can also push 50C, but the fans won't kick in. I check task manager and HWmonitor everytime, and I find that even though the laptop is running at idle (1-5% cpu), the CPU is around 40-50C. When unplugged, the fans never come on and it's very quiet.Ī few minutes after the charger is plugged in though, the fans start running. The first one had a loose trackpad and battery issues, but thats not what I want to talk about.Įverything seems to be very fine with this laptop, except for the fact that the fans are always running when charging. ![]() If so, this is a game you should have on your list. ![]() The easiest way to know if you will love it is if you’re a Rick and Morty fan and enjoy that type of humor. High on Life is a choice that will be hit or miss. Right now, the game is 25% off, but if you buy it in a bundle with Various Daylife, the total savings becomes 53% - making it cost a little less to buy both than to just buy OT2! Square Enix really impressed me with this one. It is an excellent turn-based strategy JRPG that focuses on the main stories and building up your party as you progress. Having enjoyed the first Octopath Traveler quite a bit but felt it definitely lacked a few things, I think Octopath Traveler II fills those gaps and takes the series up a notch. It also looks great on the Steam Deck and plays nice and smoothly too. It’s a highly rated series and well loved for a good reason. The storytelling, characters, and action adventure as you explore hidden treasures with Nathan Drake and crew are well worth experiencing. Originally launched on PC last year, this collection delivers Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and if you haven’t played them yet, then now is a good chance to get a nice 40% discount. If you’re someone who really enjoys games like Stardew Valley, this might be a great choice to add to your library. Even though it just came out, it still has a 10% discount for the Summer Sale, which is great and makes it easier for everyone to pick up and try out. It’s already well optimized for the Steam Deck and is the perfect type of game to enjoy on the system. Some of the Best Steam Deck Games to Buy During the Steam Summer Sale 2023 Dave the Diverĭave the Diver is a fantastic new pixel graphics comfy game featuring a mixture of deep-sea adventure RPG and management simulation when you run your restaurant at nighttime. In this list we’ll be looking at 10 of the best games in the Steam Summer Sale 2023 that look great, play well, and overall are just excellent on Steam Deck. It’s not always clear what building you want in the right context when you’re still unpacking the construction tree, only to get raided over and over just because you’ve explored more of the map ahead. With the Steam Deck becoming more readily available and more popular than ever thanks to a hefty discount on each model during the Steam Summer Sale, there are likely many of you out there wondering what games you should pick up for your Steam Deck while the Summer Sale is raging. I also wish the game would take a bit longer to ratchet up its intensity. But it’s all done for the good, to make you stronger and smarter the next time you fire it up. Sometimes, especially on your first few runs, the difficulty can seem unfair. Some buildings’ purpose seems obscure until you mash your head against it and build it. Some mistakes can leave you in a boring loop of waiting a minute or two for you to accomplish something specific like just creating a new die, or eating food over and over. I caution any newcomer to embrace each loss as the more you know for the next run the better you will be and further you’ll be able to get before a new wrinkle emerges to bring your well constructed house of cards crashing down. The entirety of Dice Legacy is a stress-fueled madhouse disguised as a soothing and charming top down game. A few dice dying faster than you can replenish and now you’re unable to get wood for the necessary building you need. Your city council every season will provide a permanent buff but it could piss off your people. Go wrong in a small way and you’ll quickly be working uphill to regain a baseline where you’ll be effective. This in turn reduced my ability to create Soldier dice to defend the town, letting raiders run rampant.Įach run is, pardon the mixed metaphor, a house of cards. I burned too much food and my dice were too weak to gather food to help. Later on I survived winter by prepping Steam Engines for warmth in advance only to lose more dice due to exhaustion than I was able to reproduce. I didn’t understand how harsh winter was until I had an entire hand of dice frozen and my citizens were pissed. And that stress of learning and trying to wean a bit more value to progress becomes the loop. This is where the rogue-like nature comes in. While since I last covered it they’ve added very helpful (and much needed) tutorials, there are concepts you will only really grasp by doing and failing. To say Dice Legacy is tough is a bit of an understatement. You can also ascend your stronger dice to be used later in future runs, giving you an advantage down the road. If you turn other dice into citizens, they’ll now be able to teach but will not be able to assist in fighting. Should you turn some of your dice into soldiers for base defense, they will no longer be able to farm. It doesn’t take Dice Legacy long to set you on its pace. ![]() The Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Fox, and Br’er Bear characters had played a walkaround role in the park for years and fit in well with the theming of Bear Country. The focus was redirected from the film’s Uncle Remus to the characters within the stories he told, skirting around the controversial elements that could cause upset. The Splash Mountain roadmap was unveiled to guests in January of 1987, with Disney execs convinced the tie to a film that was teetering on controversial at the time wouldn’t impact the project negatively due to the limitation to only animated characters from the Song of the South. When his son gave it the green light, so did Eisner and the Splash Mountain project was officially in motion. It has been said that in an effort to attract more teens and young adults, Eisner engaged his own to attend the pitch meeting to test the waters among the younger generation. A connection that modern-day lovers of this ride would find far-fetched, to say the least. It wasn’t until then-CEO (1984 – 2005) Michael Eisner’s intervention that the attraction took on the name Splash Mountain, thought to help promote a new film, Splash, with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. Baxter and his fellow Imagineers started toying with a concept called Zip-a-Dee River Run, which included scenes from Song of the South. Enter Baxter’s incorporation of the Briar characters adding that classic Disney backstory that sets their theme park attractions apart from the rest. Despite a push from Dick Nunis, a log flume ride for the park was initially discarded, considered to be somewhat beneath the likes of Disneyland due to the typical design for a one-off thrill of getting wet. Exact dues and services will vary slightly between clubs. In 1983, Imagineer Tony Baxter set out to entice more guests to the then-Bear Country of Disneyland, where only one attraction based on animatronics, Country Bear Jamboree, wasn’t gaining much attention from younger guests. Thus VA is equal to the minute volume of gas expired from alveolar structures only when all these structures have a mean PaCO2 value equal to PaCO2. Increased physiological dead space at exercise is a marker of mild pulmonary or cardiovascular disease in dyspneic subjects. This study introduces a graphical method that uses similar principles for measuring and displaying anatomical, physiologic, and. Alveolar dead space is calculated as the difference between anatomical dead space estimated by the Fowler equal area method and physiologic dead space. Dead space ventilation promotes alveolar hypocapnia reducing surfactant secretion by altering mitochondrial function. Physiologic dead space is usually estimated by the Bohr-Enghoff equation or the Fletcher method. Therefore, physiologic dead space is equivalent to anatomical. In a healthy adult, alveolar dead space can be considered negligible. The test gas in the balloon is a mixture of undiluted gas. C: At end expiration, diluted test gas remains virtually unchanged in the subject’s anatomic dead space, and it remains equally concentrated in alveolar air and in the anatomic dead space. If you artificially increase the anatomical dead space. The other 150 mL of test gas remains virtually unchanged in the subject’s anatomic dead space. an extra 50 mL of fresh air entering the alveoli. You are breathing normally and then inhale an extra 50 mL of fresh air. The respiratory zone is comprised of respiratory bronchioles, alveolar duct, alveolar sac, and alveoli. the volume of air that enters the alveoli. Physiologic or total dead space is equal to anatomic plus alveolar dead space which is the volume of air in the respiratory zone that does not take part in gas exchange. This volume is considered to be 30% of normal tidal volume (500 mL) therefore, the value of anatomic dead space is 150 mL. Anatomical dead space is represented by the volume of air that fills the conducting zone of respiration made up by the nose, trachea, and bronchi. The two types of dead space are anatomical dead space and physiologic dead space. However, differences in the exact way of measuring this space result in clinically significant different results and, therefore, debate remains about the true value of this measured parameter.Ĭopyright © 2023, StatPearls Publishing LLC.Dead space represents the volume of ventilated air that does not participate in gas exchange. in a healthy pt, physiologic dead space is equal to anatomic dead space 2. Indeed, it may serve as a prognostic factor in patients with acute repository distress syndrome (ARDS) who require ventilation. anatomic dead space is the volume of the conducting airways (mouth to terminal bronchioles) physiologic dead space is volume of airway that is not involved in gas exchange, this include alveolar dead space (alveoli that are ventilated but not perfused) 1. This phenomenon has clinical significance because, both in healthy and impaired lungs, properly calculating and accounting for this non-physiological space is important for the proper respiratory care of ventilated patients. This is therefore termed anatomical dead space as it serves no respiratory function. This includes any breathing system or airway plus mouth, trachea and the airways up until the start of the respiratory zone. It consists of conducting airways such as the trachea, bronchi, and bronchioles structures that don’t have alveoli. Anatomic dead space is an important phenomenon in respiratory physiology whereby, owing to the fact that upper airways do not function as locations for gas exchange, and because of the tidal nature of ventilation, there is always a fraction of the inspired air that does not perform a physiologic function of exchanging carbon dioxide for oxygen. Anatomic dead space consists of the fixed parts of the respiratory tract that are ventilated but not perfused. ![]() And an Antarctica is like the edge of the disc. And in the center you've got the Arctic circle, then you've got all the continents of the world sort of splayed out to fill the circle. And I assumed, as you probably have in your mind, that people who believe the world is flat think that the world is a disc. And so I had a conversation with the vice president of the flat earth society. And that's how I first thought about it when I first came across it in 2013 and when I came across the flat earth society in the UK. So you've got to sort of unpack that question a little bit because it's very easy for us to see, uh, the flat earth movement as one singular cohesive movement. So tell me what do the flat earth people, uh, think and why do they think it? And, uh, so I reached out to you and it turns out you live in Liverpool and here I am in Liverpool today. So all of a sudden I became fascinated with the flat earth people and then just on Twitter and I hadn't, I had not been a follower of yours until I saw this tweet that somebody I follow must've retweeted a, that you had just given a talk in Edinburgh where I had been. That, well, you know, if you looked at the evidence, then you'd know that what you've been told isn't true. And she said something to the effect of, this is hearsay that we're getting from me right now. And my friend told me that her sister is a flat earther and that her sister is very indignant about the, uh, idea that, um, we don't take them seriously. And about a week ago, I discovered a friend of mine who is very well educated, she's got a doctorate in biochemistry and, uh, she has a sister who's also very intelligent and very well educated. It's really interesting and serendipitous that we're sitting here because I knew that there was some flat earthers out there and I just thought it was kind of strange and funny. So I have these kinds of civil discussions and that's kind of how I came across a that the flat earth theory and the idea that there are people walking around today who think the world is flat. So I say, I don't believe in this idea of yours, but I'm really interested to figure out why I don't believe it and why you do so let's have a conversation. I've got a podcast where I talk to people who have kind of fringe beliefs and instead of having a conversation that a lot of people would have, if they are a skeptic about something and they're talking to a believer where you shout at them and tell them they're wrong and point out all the evidence and tell them, and it gets into quite a volatile discussion sometimes instead of that, I try and have a civil and polite chat to try and explore the gap between us. Um, what brings people to believe them and what kind of paths lead people there? What evidence supports, uh, supports their position in their minds and how do they engage with the world with that worldview and try and have conversations. These kinds of fringe and extreme and unusual beliefs. To just understand what brings people to ideas that I would look at and say, well, this can't be true. Uh, at the time before I was working full time as a, as a skeptic, it was a hobby of mine to, um, be in rooms filled with people who disagree with me. And that's how I came across the flat earth world, uh, is through my, uh, slightly odd, uh, hobby. Who say they can do faith healing.Īnd then another part of my, uh, my time is spent talking to people who believe in, uh, unusual ideas and who are kind of proponents of them. I've spent a lot of my time going to see people who say they can talk the dead. So I spent a lot of my time looking at things like alternative cancer kills and the people who promote those and alternative medicine. And then another part of the, the work that we do, which is the bulk of my work, is to find ideas that aren't backed by evidence and find people who are promoting those ideas, find people who are buying into those ideas and to explore them and figure out if anything can be done to prevent people being confused by them, harmed by them misled by them in those kinds of things. ![]() So we'll do work, uh, to forward science education. The fifth switch makes blue blocks appear which encloses the first three switches, making them inaccessible. (If the second and third switches are combined, then access to the last three switches is unavailable.) The fourth switch makes a yellow moving platform appear so the player can reach the first three switches. The third switch makes a wall of blue blocks appear immediately to the right of the player. The second switch extends the platform where the first three switches are located. The first switch (from the left side of the room) removes the blue blocks enclosing the coins above and below the last three switches. Three of them are very high up and cannot be accessed at first and another three can be activated at first. Right Door: This door leads to a room with six ?
